$19.95 ISBN# 1-4137-5626-3 Horus looked around for a gift shop.
Finding one tucked off to his right, he entered, and bought an
English/German dictionary. His next stop was exchanging his US currency into Euros.
Making his way back to the airport’s entrance, Horus reached into his
pocket for his cell phone. He
attempted to call Jared, but wasn't able to secure a signal.
He looked around for a phone booth, and spotted a telephone symbol with a
German word he understood: “Telefon”.
He followed the telephone signs to a bank of phones across the far wall.
As he approached the bank of phones, he noticed the attractive blonde was
using a phone at the end. He took a phone two down from her, and dialed Jared.
Using the international operator to help him make the call he looked up
to see the attractive blonde smiling at him while still wearing the sunglasses.
He smiled, and looked back down at the phone waiting for the call to go
through. The attractive blonde hung up her phone, and stepped into
Horus' personal space politely demanding his attention. Horus noticed her hair platinum blonde hair again.
It was bobbed off at the bottom of her ears.
He wondered if it were a wig. The
attractive blonde was slight in frame, but had a confidence about her stature
that caught him off guard. "Grϋβ Gott.
Schön, daβ Sie da sind."
The attractive blonde said to him in a thick German accent. "I'm sorry, Miss.
I don't speak German." Horus
said as he put his hand over the phone. The attractive blonde smiled at him, and nodded. She said more slowly while leaning into his personal space a bit further, "Schön, daβ Sie da sind." After a moment of staring at him, she turned around, and quickly crossed the lobby floor to the entrance of the airport. Horus watched her duck between two large men, and out the front entrance. Horus stood in front of the phone bank, and realized that
for the first time in years he was completely alone.
She wasn't beside him holding his hand. Each passing moment he couldn't believe how much he'd come to
depend on her. He missed her smile that gave him all the confidence he’d ever needed. In fact, she was always smiling when she looked at him. Now that he thought back on their time together, her smiles seemed utterly genuine. Every 'I love you' seemed to be a daily affirmation of the vow she'd made to him when accepting him as her husband. Horus looked down at the wedding band still around his ring finger touching it tenderly. It may not be legal, but I'm not going back now. Horus turned around, and faced the crowded lobby of the airport. 'Til death do we part. He shrugged off his jaded thoughts as he made his way to
the entrance of the airport looking for a taxi. |
