Why do we do this?

This is a fun, family activity we can do together.  We get to promote our love of the fiber and beading arts, and we enjoy meeting new people who appreciate and share our love of this art.

Where does the money go?

Miss Sheila (beading):  Saves 50% of her income in her college CD fund.  The rest...  Sheila just got her driver's permit.  She's now like the rest of us, and needs gas money and a car!

Mrs. C (knitting, writing, food):  Mrs. C has a "penny jar savings".  This is where all of her spare change goes.  Mrs. C has "special" projects around her home that the penny jar funds.  These special projects are the ones moms know all too well--those that are never a priority, but do benefit the family in some way.  The current "special" project:  Replacing the older-than-dirt refrigerator sucking tons of energy from the grid, and bringing home a small stand-alone freezer to the Castle home to help expand her freezing efforts.

Fiber Care Instructions:

Acrylic:  Gentle cycles wash/dry; or wash by hand.

Acrylic-Wool Blend:  Gentle cycles wash (cold)/dry (no/low temp).

Cashmere-Acrylic Blend:  Gentle cycles wash in cold/dry (no/low temp); or wash by hand, lay flat to dry.

Chenille:  Hand wash in cold water.  Lay flat to dry.  Chenille tends to “worm” unless handled carefully.  When in a cotton blend, “worming” is reduced.

Cotton:  Gentle cycles wash/dry.  Yarn ends have a tendency to come loose.  Trim short, or weave back in.

Wool:  Gentle cycles wash (cold)/dry (no/low temp); or wash by hand, lay flat to dry.  When in doubt, treat like the garment will shrink and full.

Wool (will felt):  Hand wash in cold water.  Lay flat to dry.  (heat + agitation is what makes wool shrink and full)
